Reclaiming Our Happy Space
Charity yogathon and bake sale to raise funds for Happy Space UK
What is Happy Space?
Happy Space UK is a preventative mental well-being charity devoted to helping university students ask and answer the question, "Why don't I feel OK"? They provide engaging content, foster partnerships and host events to enable students to reach their own happy space.
On August 10th, we are giving you the opportunity to not only attend an enriching yoga class, but to speak to and connect with like-minded people over a tea, coffee or delicious slice of cake from our bake sale which will run throughout the day. All profits from the day will go to Happy Space UK.
If you are not able to join us, you can purchase a 'Donation' ticket which allows you to make a donation to Happy Space UK without attending.
Our wonderful teachers are not taking any payment from these classes, so that all of the profit raised through ticketing can be used by Happy Space to produce more guidebooks and organise more events for students suffering with their mental health, because everyone deserves to feel supported – free of charge.
Our Teachers
Dharma Yoga
Emi will be teaching Dharma. Dharma is a practice that emphasizes good health, a clear mind and a kind heart. It is a fast-paced, fun style of yoga that lets you play and experiment in your practice and gives you the option to challenge yourself with inverted poses.
Vinyasa x Hatha
Max will be teaching a vinyasa class infused with elements of hatha yoga and mindfulness. Whilst vinyasa is fast and dynamic, hatha draws back to breathing techniques and setting intention for your practice. Max's style focuses on strength-based vinyasa flow which draws on the groundings of yoga in mindfulness and meditation, to leave you feeling strong and peaceful.
Rosa
Vinyasa Flow
Rosa will be teaching Vinyasa Flow. A staple style for most modern yogis, vinyasa is a dynamic and powerful form of yoga that focuses on linking movement to the breath to bring an enhanced feeling of groundedness. Poses are linked together in a continuous flowing sequence.
Jess
Yin Yoga
Jess will be teaching Yin Yoga. Yin is a restorative style of yoga which seeks to release tension in the muscles and joints by holding poses for several minutes. This is a fantastic practice for melting away stress and allowing your mind and body the space they need to be still.
Our Bakers
Hattie
Cakes and cupcakes
Hattie is a London-based student who takes commissions for cakes and cupcakes alongside her studies. She takes pride in her delicate and colourful cake decoration and has a keen knack for producing delicious vegan treats.
Alex
"At least one vegan thing"
Alex has decided to jump straight in with both feet and supply us with some delicious baked treats on the day. As yet, she has not decided what she is bringing, but in keeping with the wholesome theme to the day she ensures us she will bring "at least one vegan thing." Yum!
Who we are
Tegan is a trainee solicitor and co-founder of Happy Space UK. She once learned the entire dance routine for Beyonce's "Run the World" - hair flicks included.
El is a trainee solicitor and dedicated yogi - she has previously organised a 24 hour (!) yogathon to raise money for charity. She has also been known to climb mountains in her spare time.
Masha is a trainee solicitor and novice yogi who tends to fall over in practice (quite a lot). Despite this, she is secretly sporty and once tried out fencing and lacrosse.
